Teach me How to…

I’ve always been interested and even intrigued by the world of Beauty and Wellness. It’s a magic world, a world full of secrets. You can get lots of information on the internet, by following different beauty bloggers. That’s how I started experimenting. My interest grew by the day and I realized I wanted to be part of this world.

Everyone knows in order to be good, you need a good education. In Belgium, we have enough schools in the Beauty and Wellness department, it’s up to you to find the school who meets up the best to your requirements. I’ve been to quite a few open days and went back home with a quantity of information.

It was clear that the Wellness Academie had the best package. They work with professionals who know their field into the details. This school offers trainings to beautician, allround makeup artist, hairstylist, massage therapist, …  All classes are taught in small groups, it gives the teacher the opportunity to assist you individually.

I took my first lesson 3 years ago, started a training to make-up artist. (I’m not blessed with a flawless skin and was happy I’d finally know everything about minimalisizing AND hiding all those imperfections)

I’ve had the chance to be trained by Katrien Vandormael. She’s a highly respected makeup artist with many years of experience and earned her spot in this business with talent and hard work. She’s up to date with the latest trends and was excited to share all her knowledge with us.

I started dreamin’ of a carreer in this business and knew I’d have more chance if I could offer a complete package to the client. Which brings me to my second training, this time hairstyling. Miriam Trentarossi introduced me to the wonderful world of chignons, curling, brushing,… She gave us the space to use our creativity to work out our own hairstyling ideas. While sharing her (golden) tips and tricks with us.

After those intensive trainings, I took some time off to practice. On myself first, then I started collaborating with models and photographers to gain more experience. Once you’ve entered this world, you’re eager to know more about it. I love makin’ people beautiful with makeup, hairstyling,… but also wanted to help by treatin’ skin problems, massages,…

That’s why I entered the training to beautician. An intensive training given by the sympathic and very experienced Marieke Van Gils. Although the practice lessons predominate, theoretical knowledge is required and the basis. I’ve learned all about the human anatomy, pathology and physiology for the responsible performing as a beautician. And I didn’t only receive a lot of information to help others but also many answers to personal issues I’ve dealt with as a teenager or even now.

One of my favorite moments were the massages. We practiced on each other so we could experience both sides. It will surprise you but I enjoyed the most of “giving the massage.” It’s incredible when the person lets go of everything and is out of this world for some time.

It also introduced me to the interesting world of pedicure. As a beautician you’re only allowed to the cosmetic side.

Knowing how many people experience difficulties with their feet, especially older people, the choice for medical pedicure was the only logical one.

During this specialized training you go deeper into these topics: the skeleton, muscles, foot positions, the skin, nails,…

If you’re in search for an intensive and good education, I’d definitely recommend the Wellness Academie. They have different school locations in Belgium and in the Netherlands. Don’t wait any longer and dive into the wonderful world of Beauty & Wellness…

This school sounds pretty amazing. I’m not blessed with flawless skin either but I also don’t wear makeup, it’s just not my thing. But that doesn’t mean I’m not obsessed with it, I love watching videos and educating myself on different techniques. Makeup can be a work of art. It sounds like your educational journey rewarding in many ways. Thank you for sharing.
